An internship at my Age?

How do you gain experience to polish your skills? One of the comments from my LinkedIn post pointed out a new way to go back to work, an internship for grown-ups, they called it a returnship.

Career reentry expert Carol Fishman Cohen thinks you should. In this TED Talk, Cohen shares her own experience returning to work after a career break, her work championing the success of “relaunchers,” and how employers are changing how they engage with return-to-work talent.

Whether you are going back to work, start up a business or remain a SAHM, consider an internship or a volunteer task out of your comfort zone. I made my decision to start a new venture of my own, be a Mom Boss again, that is why I find value in her words:

  • Assessing options and updating job skills.
  • Networking and preparing for interviews.
  • Getting the family on board.

If you have hard skills like a business, finance, and engineering I recommend you stop by her website and review everything Cohen’s have.
