Brace Yourselves: Summer is Coming

Summer is coming and with it, lots of procrastination and lovely interruptions every now and then. No more online school to keep the kids kind of busy while you try to work from home during these unusual times. We live in Texas, and without summer camps or places to go on vacation, Summer will be a challenge.

The only good thing is that my teenagers love to sleep, meaning that I’ll finally get a good couple of hours without interruptions and finally get the membership site running.

My Summer Reading

I’ll be starting my summer reading with a nice glass of sangria and Bad Blood by John Carreyrou, a superb non-fiction book about Elizabeth Holmes’ multimillion company ‘Theranos.’ My husband already read it, and of course, I told him not to spoil it for me (although I already know what happened to the company because of the news). The bottom line: you won’t be able to put it down, and you’ll need a larger jar of sangria!

Afterward, I’ll be enjoying Stephen & Owen King’s Sleeping Beauties and The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi. Finishing both books before August will be a challenge, but that’s why stationary bikes are for.

My coffee-time book is Life is a Startup by Noam Wasserman. I like reading a book while enjoying a cup of espresso and taking notes. I find Wasserman’s work to be a good choice nowadays because it offers advice for envisioning change in our lives, the next steps, and how to deal with relationships when opening a business. With cases from Pandora, Twitter, and Nike, Wasserman provides lessons on how to be successful in our lives.

Other books you might enjoy if you need some pick-me-up literature, I recommend Rachel Hollis books: Girl, Wash Your Face or Girl, Stop Apologizing. Great reading for a weekend morning.
